A little dog was left in the street by her careless master. Mum tried contacting her master, but no one answered the phone. Mum had to bring her home. Would the dogs master came to take her? Lets begin todays story.
一只小狗被她粗心的主人忘在了街上。妈妈试着联系小狗的主人,但是没人接电话。妈妈只得先将小狗带回家,小狗的主人会回来接小狗回家吗?
Talk together
  • Read the title together. Why is the dog in a bag? Talk about what might happen in the story.

  • 读一读标题,为什么小狗会在包里呢?讨论一下将会发生什么故事。
  • Read the blurb. Talk about anyone your child knows who owns a dog. Discuss why Biff might have this dog.

The children were shopping with Mum.

"Look at that scooter!" said Biff.

Biff说:“看那辆摩托车啊!”

"Oh yes, look!" said Kipper.

Kipper说:“噢,看哪,

"The man has a little dog in his backpack."

那个男人的背包装着一只小狗。”

There were sacks on the mans scooter.

那个人的的摩托车上绑着很多袋子。

Onions were spilling out.

洋葱(从袋子里)掉了出来。

The man had to stop.

那个人只得停下车。

There were onions all across the road.

路上到处都是洋葱。

"Quick," said Biff.

"Help me pick up the onions."

Biff 说:“快,和我一起把洋葱捡起来。”

The man got back on his scooter.

那个人回到了摩托车上。

"Thank you," he said, and off he went.

“谢谢。”他说,然后他离开了。

But the man had left the little dog.

但是他把他的小狗落下了。

"Stop! Stop!" shouted Mum.

妈妈大叫:“停下,停下!”

"The man might come back," said Lee.

Lee说:“他应该会回来的吧。”

But he did not.

但是那个人并没有回来。

Biff took the dog out of the bag.

Biff把小狗从背包里拿了出来。

"shes so sweet," said Kipper.

Kipper说:“她真是太可爱了!”

The dog had a tag on her neck.

小狗的脖子上挂着一个牌子。

The tag had Poppet on it and a phone number, too.

牌子上写着 Poppet,还有一个电话号码。

Mum rang the number.

妈妈拨打了上面的号码。

"No one there," she said."I will send a text."

她说:“没有人接,我来发个信息。”

They took the dog back to the flat.

他们把小狗带回了公寓。

"Can we get a dog like this?" Said Lin.

Lin说:“我们能养一只这样的小狗吗?”

Floppy and Button did not think much of that.

Floppy和Button可不乐意。

Mr and Mrs Sun came to get Poppet.

孙先生和孙太太过来带Poppet。

"Thank you," said Mrs Sun.

孙太太说:“太感谢了。”

"How did I forget Poppet?" said Mr Sun.

孙先生说:“我怎么把 Poppet给忘了呢。”

"What if we had lost her forever?"

“万一找不到她了可怎么办?”

Lin put Button in her bag.

Lin也把Button放在她的背包里。

"Button is my backpack dog!" she said.

她说:“Button是我的背包狗狗!”

Q2: Turn to page 10. How does Mum know who the dog belongs to? How does she contact them?
翻到第10页。妈妈是怎么知道小狗的主人是谁的?她怎么联系小狗主人的呢?

A3: (Answers may vary)Poppet was put in the backpack when her master came out. Maybe Lin found it interesting and wanted to try too. I dont think Button likes it. Its better to run about for dogs.
Poppet的主人外出时就是这样把Poppet放在背包里的,可能Lin觉得这样很有趣,也想试试。我觉得Button不喜欢这样,小狗肯定更喜欢到处跑。

为了创作,两位主创专门来了两趟中国。

为了还原尽可能真实的中国场景,Alex拍摄了3000左右张照片。我刚拿到书的时候翻了一下,以为是找的中国人画的。每一副插画包括里面的细节都像极了平时生活中会看到的场景。

还有各种脑洞大开的神奇大冒险,小主人公们穿越到了明朝见到了郑和下西洋和皇帝朱棣,还去古代的丝绸之路的客栈打了个卡,认识了月亮上的嫦娥,还和村里老人一起斗年兽,这波操作真的帅到没边儿了,简直不要太精彩~
